Where are you having your reception & dessert parties?
Hi
Just thought I'd ask where everyone is having/has had there reception & dessert parties. I'm looking at the Grand Floridian, so we keep it all in one place. Any photos, or general ideas of what you are doing/did would be great |

We've just got back from our DFTW last week. Because we had an escape wedding with just a few guests and wanted to keep as close to the $7500 minimum as possible we had the reception and dessert party back to back at Sago Cay Point. That way it saved on having to pay two venue hire fees/meet two f&b minimums and also gave us a decent amount of time (escape receptions are shorter than wishes).
It worked really well for us as a small party, I was very concerned about meeting the venue specific minimums if we used two different venues so it was perfect. We had one large table set up for dinner and then smaller cocktail tables set up for the dessert party. It was lovely having it all outdoors at sunset. We still had floral centrepieces on all the tables (moved from the ceremony), votive candles at each place setting and hung paper lanterns from the surrounding trees to try and make the space ours. I'm waiting on the photographers at the moment, I see they've posted the gallery online now so I'm hoping to get the password very soon! Drop me a pm if you'd like to see them and I forget to come back and post a link!

Angel81uk would you mind if I looked at your photos too please? Your day sounds perfect!
We are planning a May 2013 wedding and we definately want to watch Wishes as my DFi proposed at the Pol beach during Wishes. So Sago Cay point is our first choice

When we were having a DFTW with all family there, we were going to have it at Sago Cay as the minimums and venue site fees were lower. We were just having a normal ADR.

Lets see... we wanted the Whitehall room was told no, wanted the Napa room was told no and then wanted The Attic was told no, sorry its being held by a convention as you can see DFTW are not giving me what I want! So now, my wedding is elsewhere. The rules and policies were doing my head in.

I think so yes, I don't see why I should pay double the money for my wedding when I wouldn't even be getting everything I was anyway It's all to do with money, why let me have the room and only get about $1300 for using it when they 'might' get a wedding with 30-40 guests and get 3x what I'd be giving them.
Yep, Cypress Grove and I feel like we're getting so much more for so much less |

Sarah I'm so pleased you made the decision! We will have to share our planning as looks like ours is going to be there too! All went belly up again! I really hope you're happy with your decision!
