Does anyone know an american treatment/tablets or a cream for Herpes virus? They dont seem to have zovirax over here, weve bought a cream this morning from Walgreens but it dosent seem to be working as I think its prescription only to sell anything with an active ingredient, Thankyou.

For a cold sore? Abreva is better than Zovirax, I think. Should be widely available.

If not a cold sore, I'm sorry but can't suggest anything.

Sorry you've had an outbreak.

I know it's quite common but the treatments they seem to have which work are prescription only, so I suppose I'm answering my own questions, but any help or advice would be grateful

Speak to the pharmacist in either Walgreens or cvs and they will prescribe whatever you need, or point you in the right direction

The active ingredient in Zovirax is Acyclovir so ask at a pharmacy for a cream with that in it. I never buy Zovirax as it's so expensive - you're just paying for the brand name. Any cheaper cream with the same active ingredient is the same.

Some of the Walgreens and CVS pharmacies have a walk-in clinic where you can be prescribed a range of medicines. It’s obviously more expensive than just buying a tube at home but IIRC my DBIL got a consultation and antibiotics for an infected cut for less than $100.
