Using a debit card for resort account card

Does anyone know if you can use a debit card as the card on account at a WDW Resort?
We don't have a credit card and didn't want to apply for one just for our holiday!
We have a Starling Bank account that we are going to use on our Lyft account so wanted to use that...
Thanks guys for any advice!

We did back in 2014 with no problems. They don’t really use the term ‘debit card’ in the US much, I think they just call them all credit cards, but it worked fine.

You might want to read up about the issue with putting holds on your card though. If they put more on hold than was in your bank account at the time, there might be a problem.

A debit card would be fine, we used a credit card and had £350 in holds at one point! Was very frustrating but at least wasn’t real money as it was a credit card. It would be different if it is a debit card as this would be real money from you bank account being held

Do we have to link a card at all? What do they need them for? Thanks!

You don't have to, it's just if you want to charge to your room.

Any card with a Visa or MC symbol, so my bank card is a Visa Debit, it's the "Visa" bit that counts
