You can often get a room for about £100 a night, maybe a touch more.

And yes, you get two full days (multiple use per ride) FOTL passes (they are actually your room keys that you use).

And they are wonderful, wonderful resorts in their own right. It's money well-spent, I can assure you. I'm almost tempted to offer you a refund out of my back pocket if you book it and don't enjoy yourself!

As I undersand it, the $45 passes will be for the expected busier days, the cheaper tickets for the expected quieter days. They are not stupid - they will try to get as much money as they can out of you and know that if it is to be busier on certain days, people are prepared to pay that bit more to not queue as long.

One last thing - you can read my (gushingly positive!) views on the Universal hotels here...

I'll take that deal

I like the idea as it means we dont have to rush back to our accomodation late in the evening and can relax with a few drinks as well

so if I book one night at around £100 I get a FOTL pass for the day of my arrival (check in early and hit one of the parks) and also on our departure day checkout and go do the other park

How would that be if they are the room key surely I have to return it when we check out ?

As somebody said the fotl passes are only valid for 1 ride but as mentioned they dont always cross the ride of your pass but sometimes they do so if you are lucky they wont but on the other hand they could cross the ride name off every time. Staying in a universal hotle gets my vote and i have doe this once and will do it again next year when we go. Think i paid about £120 in July. Went to the hotel about 9 my room wasnt ready but got the front of line passes and yes they last for 2 days with a 1 night stay and you get to keep them as they have your name on and date of stay they are a nice souvenier. We went on thing like mummy and men in black 6 or 7 times and they were all walkons well yu have to go on this many times to get a decent picture lol

Nah - the room key, like a lot of places, is just a bit of plastic that is printed and personalised to you. They don't want or need it back - it's no good to anyone.

It will make a nice souvenir too.

One of my favourite things, after a long day in the park (though not as long as for those that have had to queue!) is sitting outside at Jimmy Buffet's at Citywalk unwinding with a few beers and cocktails, watching the world passing and the sun setting. Bliss!

We paid £320 for 1 night at Royal Pacific, Universal and IOA 7 day park tickets for 4 and as said the fotl passes are included. In June the lines were terrible, some rides over 80 mins. Cant wait to go back in June and have the passes

Thanks for all the information, especially that it costs different amounts on different days, didn't realise that!

in a quandry now, staying on site seems like a good idea but because DS and his gf will be coming with us we will need 2 rooms which makes it much more expensive

at a glance it looks like $300 per room per night = $600
+ 2 park tickets at $117pp = $585
Total = $1185

Staying at our villa will cost $117 pp =$585
+ FOTL passes for 5 people for 2 days at $36 per person per day = $945

So for us it is cheaper to get the passes, just need to decide whether to queue for the rides or fastpass them?

thanks for the help

Would you and your DS and GF be willing to share a room for 1 night? It is only the 1 night, could save doing it that way
