I personally wont be getting any more as I really felt uncomfortable using them and it took to long to check then record details - shame cause I used to love them
That’s why a lot of us cash them in at reception and then there isn’t any waiting about in shops etc. We feel safer with them and just change up what we need for a couple of days at a time

I think Guest Services at the parks cash them too.

I agree a credit card is the best option overall. Second to that are TC.

Last by a long way are the currency cards. There offer very little protection.

It comes down to security v convenience. Travellers cheques off a large amount of security but now require a bit more effort to cash them

Prepaid cards are far more convenient but if you encounter a problem your on your own. Last time I was in the Orlando area I had fairfx servers down twice when I was there meaning the card wasn't usable.

Some people point to the fact you can freeze and unfreeze your card at any point and have two cards which you transfer a daily allowance on to. Yes you can but that is just as problematic as going to your hotel lobby and signing a cheque.

I never liked prepaid cards as you are tying up your money, only used TC once but didnt take to them.
Now I have a travel current account, all my money is in sterling I can use its debit card for cashpoint and everyday expenses, no transaction charges and uses the mastercard exchange rate with transactions immediately updated on the app, if you dont spend all your money use it in the UK when you get home, or keep it for your next trip. I believe there are a few around but I use Starling Bank.
My normal bank gives me a credit card which as no transaction charges and is Visa, I use that for larger items. Additionally its Visa so if one network fails I have the other.

We charged everything to our room at WDW and Universal, and paid off the balance with TCs. Very easy.

I changed mine up in the bank on Berry Town Center near the villa we were in, Publix or at a hotel reception. Feels much safer and I get them when I am comfortable with the rate.
