FastPass - early or late ?
Here’s the dilemma ... do you book fast passes for early in the day and then have the option of going back to hotel in afternoon / or being able to book more fast passes later on in the day ... or ... do you go to parks early and queue for rides and book fast passes for the afternoon when it gets busier ?

I like to start from 10 then you have a chance to book more once they are used up.

Early then you can get more later in the day, unless we are specifically planning an afternoon evening trip then obviously we book afternoon ones. I book a window which will be coming to its end when we arrive so we can get straight onto all 3 of the rides

Always early and then add them on after that.
What "early" is gradually shifts later throughout the holiday. The only exception are waterpark days when we book our FPs for the evening when we head to a (non-water-based) park. |

I go early too - unless you are planning to rope drop which I can't quite face. I go pretty early if i can and if 9am open I would book one for 9 - 10 and hope to pick up another ride near it on standby first e.g. Haunted Mansion on standby then Big Thunder on FP from 9 - 10 followed by Splash Mountain 10 - 11am. I've usually been able to pick up FPs after I've used all 3, just keep hitting refresh!

For most days I start mine at ten and book at hourly intervals. Occasionally I will start at midday if I am planning a leisurely breakfast ADR or at 4pm if I am planning a water park.

Early - UNLESS there is a headliner that I want to ride at night. E.g. I like to ride 7 dwarves mine train after dark (sooo much better) and Kilimanjaro safaris just at sunset when animals are active.

Early - Always do my first one for around 9.30am - 10am, get into the park, either go to a headline attraction straight away, or if you already have a a fastpass for that, go and do some of the smaller/medium rides before the queues build up.
Completely agree with DisneyFoodie above though - some rides are better at different times of the day. Big Thunder/7 Dwarves/Everest are incredible in the dark. And I have to echo the Kilimanjaro safaris shout too - Sunset is brilliant, we actually got animals running across the Savannah area last year which was unbelievable.
