This is a port day navigator from the same cruise
disneycruiselineblog/wp-c...s-20150817.pdf We've done two Bahamian cruises and on both times we have stayed on ship at Nassau. Always plenty to do.

Don't forget on port days the shops on board are shut.

Yes. They don't open until you leave port.

We did a half day to Rome then came back to a nearly empty ship. Most people do a full frazzled day in Rome and as the ship generally doesn't depart until 8pm, getting back for lunch gives you the best of both worlds. We did the same at Herculaneum. First off and back in time for lunch and an empty ship!
We decided to just do the Sistine Chapel and a basic tour of St Peters and then leave. The train journey was really fast and we were there for opening as we used the St Peters stop before Termini station. Its a good place to do in the heat of summer as it's all inside. Plus it will free up some time for other things on the big holiday. |

Ooh, you've put the cat among the pigeons now!
Did you book the tour ahead of time?

Well sallybunny, you've convinced us!
Looked into it, and it looks like the train to S Pietro is pretty easy. There's a fast track entry/audiotour ticket for St Peter's for 15 Euros. Also one for the Vatican museum (including Sistine Chapel) for 26 Euros. Thinking of just doing the St Peter's one and then having a bit of a wander. It was the 40 minute train journey that convinced me - that's less than my daily commute!
