We were going to do the parasailing in October 2001, but it was too windy on the day it was booked for
I hope we'll get round to doing it someday

Never done the Boggy Creek Airboats - they sound like fun!

Airboat rides at Boggy Creek

Hi,

We have been to both sites and both have diffferent feels.

The site at Southport ( end of Poinciana Bld) has the feel of the everglades, not much in the way of commercialisation-is this a word- but you do get very close to nature. We went in Feb 97 and Mar 99 and there was plenty of action from gators and snakes.

The site near the airport was similar in atmos but I thought the wildlife a bit lacking (Aug 02 probably too hot).
However you must do the 800ft Parasail, what a view. You are in the air for about 12/15 mins and get your feet, legs or whole body dipped in the lake, on the instruction from your fellow riders who are sat in the boat, revenge is sweet though. $10 for a roll of 24 films taken by the boat crew, well worth it.

The parsail is weather dependant but you can get a pass for later if rained of, so I would recommend doing it early in your holiday just in case.

Airboat riding itself is a thrill as the driver has a terrible habit of spinning you round v fast on the ground, one for the camcorder.

Thumbs up Boggy Creek Airboats

Please do not think this is an advertisement or a promotion. I just stumbled onto this web site and this subject matter by accident. I am a Captain for the Boggy Creek Airboat rides and wanted to reply to some of your postings. I have not been with this company for that long and the thrill of this ride is still within me like a first time tourist. We have two locations and I like the ride out of South Park a little better then out of East Lake Toho. They are both very good but I like all the wildlife we see out of South Park better. Naturally on any day you may see gators, bald eagles, osprey, snail kite, march rabbits, etc. but on some days you may see none. I think after you do this for a very long time you judge your ride based on the number of gators you see. However, since the animals are in the wild and not caged or chained there are days that you do not see as many animals. It is on those trips that I remember what my first ride was like and how much I am still fascinated by the scenery and beauty of the lake. Central Florida is still an amazement to me because of the beauty there is in the land. I vacationed in Disney all my life and then moved here to the area. I always made a point of getting away from the typical tourist areas for some of my trip to see the area. I may be the Captain but first I am still a tourist. If you are planning a trip with us you will see what I mean.

Captain

What a nice reply from the Captain. It's truly amazing that the DIBB is spreading it's fingers around the world.

We went to Boggy Creek (or Bogey Creek, as my son called it) in Dec 2001 (see my trip report) and had a fabulous afternoon. It was actually too hot (in December) for any gators but we did see a Bald Eagle nest and snakes (harmless one's). But the main "thrill" was the ride itself. Our "captain" was incredible. The way they handle those boats (with enormous V8 engines on the back) was awesome - almost as good as Rock'n'Roller coaster.

I would highly recommend going - it gets you away from the theme parks too (yes, even I had to have a rest). Ten out of ten for me.

Talking Boggy Creek Airboats

You can recognize me because I will be the one in the big seat on top! Welcome aboard.

Very nice boards here.

My guess is that you are all Disney fans here. I have not had a chance to look around at the postings yet but you all seem to have that common interest... the Mouse!

Has anyone fished on Disney property? If you are a fisheman there is great fishing in Bay Lake out of the Contemporary or the Camping Area... Once on vacation there I had a five pound Largemouth Bass in my hands less then five minutes after boarding one of the guide boats there. I am an avid fisherman and that may have been unusual however it still can occur for a novice also. It must be that pixie dust in the water!
