I was looking at prices for next Sept and the Disney prices are mad. We usually stay at the values as we are literally never in the room, bar washing and sleeping. It's just the general convenience for us and it's quite nice being in the bubble.
Not a chance I'll be paying the costs they are looking for. Given you also need to add in $15 per day to park the car and there are literally no other benefits to being onsite, I don't get what the premium is for anymore.
I'd happily stay at Disney again, but they need to offer something to make me want to be there.

I feel very lucky that our last 2 trips were on site with free dining, free parking etc but now it's time to go back to off site resorts.

Such a shame but I can't justify paying Disney prices at the moment 😔

Mind you I've also looked at the three deluxe hotels at universal for the same 14 nights and they're coming in at approx $500 a night so not really any better value to be had there either !
Should be getting a saving through the stay more save more (or similar discounts) at that point for Universal deluxe hotels, $500 a night isn't great for a 14 night stay that's for sure.

What are your dates? Did a quick search for RPR in early and late July and it's throwing me $400~ a night water view 2 queen room before taxes for both halves of the month, works out to about $420-430 a night after tax. Can get it down to $400 if not bothered about the view. Still not cheap but not quite as bad.

Exactly. The rooms are way overpriced if you just look at quality of accommodation, so they need to offer us something else than 'on site ' to make it worth it.

I wonder if guests from the US are paying far less like usual. Seems like they don't want UK guests staying on site, although I thought they loved us as a captive 2 week visitor!

My friend has been surprised with a 2 week trip to AKL next year for her family by grandpa. I shudder to think what it's cost. She is a total Disney virgin, I darent mention the likes of Genie+ to her 😂

I have no idea it it's "like usual", but there's no such thing as exclusive offers to US guests - anyone at all can book directly with Disney-US or one of the numerous US-based WDW specialist agencies.

In short, any prices available to US visitors are available to you too.

Received wisdom is not. We're undoubtedly a useful addition to their US trade, which is their bread and butter.

If a UK family visits for two weeks they might buy one plush Mickey. If that same room was used to house three American families staying 5, 5 and 4 nights, they might each buy a plush Mickey, so three in total.

Basically, you don't buy more merchandise just because you are staying two weeks. A visitor is likely to buy the same amount whether they're there for a couple of nights or a couple of weeks, so shorter staying visitors are likely to be the most lucrative for Disney.

Hotel prices are absurd in general all around the country right now.

I definitely think there is something to that, at least at WDW.

Thanks to the different accomodation situation at Universal though I think it's a little different there with the hotels being run by partner companies, at least in some cases. We were greeted warmly at RPR and the staff commented on the length of our stays and treated us very well, considering that we actually pay less per night than a guest staying less than a week (as per usual). Though I suppose they are just grateful for the business in September when it might be less busy (save the odd convention.)

We have booked onsite for May. If we actually get to go it will be our last onsite stay. I’m seriously considering cancelling it at this point- we have a villa booked for next December as well so might just scrap May completely. I’m waiting until after Xmas to make a decision and hopefully there will be more clarity around travel by then …

I agree, they give us reduced tickets prices and as you aay they don’t stay as long but spend so much more , they don’t really need us as such and are proving that successfully at the moment.
