That was certainly the case when they first came out and, whilst it will always be better to be connected, there's a whole raft of stuff you can now use when offline.

It probably depends on what is you want to do but email and document editing etc can all be done offline and then synced when you next connect.

Hi thanks

Basically I only need it off line to show PowerPoint and videos at school? As we do not have Internet access

I'd need to do some research but you might struggle there - it will depend on whether the online version of Office (Office365?) enables offline mode.

The Google equivalent - Slides - would almost certainly work.

If that’s your primary purpose I wouldn’t get a chromebook.

Look at a Hp Stream they are quite low powered laptops but the would run PowerPoint. You would probably need to keep the videos on an external device in both cases as they don’t tend to have a lot of disk space.
