The "are we nearly bankrupt yet" french family first trip to florida! Day Five, Walmart & Kona Cafe

Today we needed to kick back a little after walking 9 miles yesterday at Universal, so we just chilled out at our resort, and had a lazy breakfast, followed by a trip to Walmart (I was actually quite excited by this, believe it or not!) Walmart was huge, and very easy to navigate, I had great fun filling the trolley, much to my husbands disgust, I mostly bought chocolates, bags and bags of Reeces, M&M's, Hersheys, etc etc... Around 20kgs we reckon! Oh, and Peter Pan Peanut Butter..!

We had a short bike ride in the afternoon, and a swim in the pool, then got ready for our dinner at Polynesia Resort, at the Kona Cafe - I could not get us into Ohanas, so we thought this would be next best thing.

The resort looked lovely, but again, we were surprised at how busy it felt, compared to the peace and quiet of our resort. So many children, babies, and adults, and noise! I was expecting a truly tropical experience, but it was more like a busy Hotel lobby, bustling woth people everywhere, no Aloha music, and no Lilo or Stitch to be seen! Boooooooo!

The food however was fabulous, we had Pork Pot Stickers to start, (pork dumplings) and Sticky Chicken Wings both yummy, and not too much either. I then had Salmon on a bed of black rice, with spinach, it was delicious, cooked really well. Terry had lamb chops, and the boys had strip steak and fries. Only disappontment was dessert, I was hoping for white chocolate cheesecake, which I had seen on a review, it has been replaced by a tea infused sugar free cheesecake, looked awful.
Boys had some ice cream thing in a bed of blue e-number candy floss! The bill as over two hundred dollars, not cheap but I am glad we tried it, and I would probably eat there again. We ended up in the gift shop, and I treated myself to a Dooney and Bourke tote bag, its gorgeous, I love it!

Love your bag. I love doing our first big shop in Walmart when we arrive, strange considering I hate food shopping at home!

Really enjoying your reports and photos. I bought myself a D&B bag last time too, mines the big one without the zipper, still love it and always makes me smile when I see it. Enjoy the rest of your trip...can't wait to see what you do next
