Premium economy BA or Virgin?
Hi We are looking to go to Orlando in Oct this year and as it is a special birthday trip I am looking at traveling in premium economy. I have seen some flights with BA priced at £750 each and I am wondering if this is a good deal ? I would prefer to go with Virgin but the cheapest I have seen was £1000 per person which seems a big jump up from an economy ticket. (Almost double the price). What are everyone's views on this? Is BA's premium economy class worth the upgrade ? Any help greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't pay for the BA upgrade the seat width is really poor compared to the competition (barely bigger than economy) I'd go for virgin - however I wouldn't pay more than 800 for virgin PE it just isn't worth that

I'd also say that it's a complete myth that PE is an upgrade on Economy. Ok so yes it is but it really isn't a big uplift. I'd opt for economy and spending the saved cash on something frivolous in Orlando over just buying a slightly bigger seat.
Now if it was a real upgrade to upper class that's a different discussion as virgins UC product is pretty special |

VA PE and UC is subjective, personally we find the overall bigger seat (21" wide, 38" pitch) and handy foot rest vs a smaller (17.5" and 31") economy seat, much more comfortable and worth the fare.
We've flown UC, unfortunately our last flight, on a showing it's age 747, was very disappointing.

Just worth remembering that the BA fleet out of Gatwick having their refurb - there was actually an article about the improvements online the other day.

As an aside, I do like the Virgin PE product although not done the BA WTP option. If there was only a small price difference I would be tempted by Virgin especially considering BA charge to select seats 😡 but if it was a big difference and I would be on a refurbished plane then BA would take it!

I'm thinking of the same in December and at the moment BA is £200+ per person cheaper. However I kept an eye on prices in 2018 for last December and Virgins did come down to £750 mark later in the year. I'm leaving it a couple of months to see how prices go.
To add flew Norwegian economy last time which was pretty good, as really did not enjoy our last flights in Virgin economy the holiday before that.

I've done VA & BA both PE and only preferred VA by a small margin, I have just done a long haul PE on Dreamliner operated by TUI and I loved it, I am going to try to price that up for our next flydrive

I have flown PE on Virgin not BA but what I really prefer is Economy Tui Dreamliner.
