Underestimating the Wave Pool at Typhoon Lagoon

DH and DD still proudly have their battle wounds from our first encounter with the TL wave pool! In DHs defence he can't read without his glasses on and sat down with DD in the shallow end of the pool right next to one of the warning cones! They just expected the waves to gentle break over their feet, how wrong they were!

If you can tread water the go as deep as you can - it is better. My worst experience is trying to find my sunglasses having been cleared up in the shallow bit. Thankfully without a scrape or blood. Lesson learned

Still one of my favourite memories my dad being knocked on to his bum last year and giggling like mad as he too underestimated the force of the waves

First time I did the TL wavepool was when DS was 8 and a very strong swimmer for his age (he's nearly 18 now... ). As soon as he saw the wave pool he was gone to the far deep end so I had to swim after him as DH is not a great swimmer. Several lung fills of water and a degree of panic later we re grouped together in the deep end. I was super exhausted and relived we were okay. His feedback. 'Where has everyone else gone Mum'? It has been my annual mum torture ever since!
