Glad to see the Americans have seen the error of their ways and will ditch petrol for the better fuel.
I too will be swapping from 2.0L diesel to 3.0L and also from a manual to an auto!

I drive a diesel at home so I quite like that (at the mo) I use the black pump in both countires. If Alamo etc end up hiring diesels I’ll have to remember the green pump! 😂

Really interesting read to see that a country the size of the USA transitioning to Diesel as a favoured fuel.
Laughable in some ways as my diesel Volvo will be out of date for UK regs yet will be state of the art in the States

To be honest I don't think diesel will catch on big time in the States. Not with Gas the price it is.

RickT is correct 20% increase in oil burners last year. However from such an incredibly low starting point this means that between 3 and 4 % of vehicles on US roads ( excluding lorries) are oil burners.
Perhaps not surprising that the most increase in large pick ups and large SUVs were the torque from the oil burner is useful.
As Diesel fuel has a 25% extra tax levied in states extra economy is nearly all lost with this plus extra cost at purchase making pay back high mileage.
Personally cant see a big if any take up carhire companies as pure logistics as something so simple as filling at MCO would require cars to be taken off site to get fuel as fuel bunker on-site is regular petrol increasing costs and turn around.
of course they could deem that diesel if hired would only be on a full to full basis but complication to an issue they use as a buisness model.
Mick you can still use your 99.9 % with a rider if you hired a large pick up it maybe diesel as this is where vast majority are.
